This past pay per view which happened on September 7, 2008 was called Unforgiven. It took place in Cleveland, Ohio at the Quicken Loans Arena. Each brand of WWE (RAW, ECW, and SmackDown) participated in different types of matches. This year Mike Adamle (RAW's General Manager) introduced a new type of match called the Championship Scramble. Basically the Championship Scramble is after twenty minutes of wrestling, whoever made the last pin fall is the winner and the new WWE Champion or World Heavyweight Champion or the ECW Champion (there were three different matches from RAW, ECW, and SmackDown).
ECW Championship Scramble Match
Matt Hardy defeated Mark Henry, Chavo Guerrero, Finlay, and the Miz. Matt Hardy was awarded the ECW Championship belt.
World Tag Team Championship Match
Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase defeated Cryme Tyme to retain their World Tag Team Championship belts.
Unsanctioned No Holds Barred Match
Shawn Michaels defeated Chris Jericho. The referee had to stop this match because Michaels kept beating Jericho.
WWE Championship Scramble Match
Triple H defeated Jeff Hardy, Brian Kendrick, Shelton Benjamin, and Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP).
WWE Diva's Championship Match
Michelle McCool defeated Maryse.
World Heavyweight Championship Scramble Match
Originally CM Punk was the World Heavyweight Champion, but during an interview backstage he was attacked by Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Ted DiBiase. Randy Orton kicked CM Punk in the head, which gave CM Punk a concussion and could not compete in the match. Mike Adamle announced that Chris Jericho was going to replace CM Punk's position in the match.
Chris Jericho defeated John "Bradshaw" Layfield, Kane, Batista, and Rey Mysterio making Jericho the new World Heavyweight Champion.
I got to see this pay per view and I have to say I enjoyed it, especially the Unsanctioned Match because the company was building this match up so well and the match was done perfectly by two talented wrestlers. Also, I never expected Chris Jericho to be the new World Heavyweight Champion and I liked to be surprised when I watch wrestling.
